Building a FAIR and Interoperable WHODrug Knowledge Graph: Workshop at Uppsala Monitoring Centre

Last week, our team, including Raphaël Sergent and partially Heiner Oberkampf, participated in an intensive three-day workshop at the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) in Sweden focused on advancing the WHODrug Knowledge Graph.
The workshop centered on FAIRification of data, governance, and IDMP alignment using the IDMP Ontology, as well as designing FHIR message content to support a more interoperable global medicinal product dictionary. These efforts aim to enable seamless data exchange and integration across global pharmaceutical systems, supporting better traceability, safety monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
Raphaël highlighted the collaborative spirit of the workshop, thanking UMC colleagues Åsa Pärnaste, Magnus Wallberg, Malin Fladvad, Olof Lagerlund, Sohye Yoon, Julia Ribbing, and Dag Ekstrom for their hands-on contributions and excellent hosting.
Looking ahead, the team anticipates presenting exciting progress on FHIR exchange and conversion to IDMP resources at the upcoming HL7 Connectathon in Madrid, continuing the drive toward a fully interoperable, data-driven global medicinal product ecosystem.
