Advancing Digitalization of Medicines: Insights from LIMICS Day

Yesterday, Raphael Sergent attended LIMICS Day, organized by Catherine Duclos and Marie-Christine Jaulent at the LIMICS premises on the Cordeliers campus in Paris.
The event featured a high-quality seminar focused on the digital transformation of medicines in France and highlighted the central role of the Référentiel Unique d’Interopérabilité du Médicament (RUIM) — developed by Yann Briand and Thomas Francart. This reference framework is now available on the Server Multi-Technologies of the Agence du Numérique en Santé (access here).
Speakers underlined the pressing challenges facing medicine data management — from cross-border prescriptions to supply shortages — issues that have been intensified by the COVID-19 crisis at national, European, and global levels.
Encouragingly, a harmonization of data models is within reach through the adoption of international ISO IDMP standards. France and the Agence nationale de sécurité du médicament et des produits de santé (ANSM) can already build on the strong groundwork established by the European Medicines Agency under its SPOR and PMS initiatives.
The message from the day was clear: the time to act is now to accelerate the digitalization and interoperability of medicine data.
